Current Research Projects

  • Basic and clinical research to improve quality and efficacy of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) by achieving highly-optimized dose distributions and to promote its application to a wide range of cancers, including head and neck cancers, malignant glioma, prostate cancers, and uterine cervical cancers.
  • Studies on quality assurance of verification and high precision radiation delivery by image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) using real-time imaging technology.
  • Studies on contouring targets and risk organs by automatic and deformable image registration technology as well as image fusion technology using CT, MRI, and various molecular images.
  • Studies on mechanism of treatment-related toxicity of normal tissues (i.e., radiation pneumonitis) and on its reduction via eliminating unnecessary dose by IMRT, IGRT, and respiratory gating technology.
  • Participation and co-operation in nationwide clinical research trialists group as follows:JCOG (Japan Clinical Oncology Group), WJOG (West Japan Oncology Group), JROSG (Japanese Radiation Oncology Study Group)
